Don Gossman, who is considered one of the leading authorities on appraisal fraud, has over 30 years experience in the industry.

During his career he has served as President of the Kansas City Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, a member of the Missouri Appraiser Council and the Education Chairman of the KC Appraisal Institute.

He holds the prestigious SRA designation from the Appraisal Institute and is a certified residential appraiser in Kansas and Missouri.

Gossman continues to work as a consultant on appraisal fraud and has been asked to speak as an expert by the US Attorney’s office, Fannie Mae, the FBI and Justice Department.

Bernie has been an appraiser for over 30 years. He has been an instructor for the appraisal Institute for over 20 years and the Appraisal Foundation for over 15 years. As an instructor for these organizations he has taught the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) course since adoption of USPAP in 1989.

He started the Shaner Appraisal firm in 1978 and served as its president/chairman for over 30 years. Shaner Appraisals presently employs 13 appraisers and handles primarily commercial and eminent domain assignments.

Shaner often handles review assignments for the Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board and the Missouri Real Estate Appraisers Commission, as well as area banks. He has testified as an expert witness in state and federal courts in Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Nebraska, Colorado and
Washington DC.
